Original Press Release:

Register Now for January Webinar: 2016 ANSI-Accredited US TAG to ISO Compliance Review

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and its Procedures and Standards Administration (PSA) department wish to remind all ANSI-Accredited U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) administrators the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to sign up for its upcoming January webinar, a review of the 2016 revisions to the ANSI International Procedures, the 2016 ISO TAG Procedural Compliance Form and the 2015 TAG Annual Report, including the submission process, (details below).

Additionally, a response to the recently distributed E-mail that contained the 2016 Procedural Compliance Form/2015 TAG Annual Report Notice must be submitted no later than February 1, 2016, to the ANSI PSA department (psa@ansi.org).

Individuals requiring additional time to respond should send an extension request to psa@ansi.org; failure to submit by the deadline may jeopardize the TAG’s accreditation status and their organization's status as the related ANSI Accredited U.S. TAG Administrator. TAGs that are not separately accredited or that report to the main ISO/TC TAG are not required to submit their own TAG compliance form or annual report. A full list of ANSI-Accredited U.S. TAGs to ISO can be accessed at www.ansi.org/isotags.

“By seeking and maintaining ANSI-accredited status, an organization chooses to publicly commit to an open, equitable, and accessible consensus process that ensures due process and benefits the public interest,” explained Lane Hallenbeck, ANSI vice president of accreditation services. “The 2016 ISO TAG Annual Compliance Form E-mail is combined with the 2015 TAG Annual Reporting format to facilitate the annual compliance notification process and the ISO TAG Annual Report submission.”

2016 Procedural Compliance E-mail (Part 1)

Before submitting the 2016 ISO TAG Procedura l Compliance E-mail (Part 1), please review the 2016 edition of the ANSI International Procedures(www.ansi.org/internationalprocedures) which includes a number of changes to reflect current practices and procedural requirements as well as many editorial updates, including, but not limited to a new term “ISO Committee” and clarification of International Secretariat requirements. TAG Administrators to TAGs that are accredited to use Annex A are not required to revise the TAG’s procedures, but must rely on and operate in compliance with the new 2016 edition of the ANSI International Procedures and Annex A contained therein.

2015 TAG Annual Report Form (Part 2)

The TAG Annual Report Form is Part 2 of the Compliance E-mail that was issued to each TAG Administrator of an ANSI-Accredited US TAG to ISO.

The Annual Reporting requirements contained in the ANSI Procedures for U.S. Participation in the International Standards Activities of the ISO (ANSI International Procedures) are excerpted, in part, below:

1.6.1 Annual Report

An annual report, in summary narrative form, to be submitted to ANSI not later than January 31 of the following year, shall be prepared by each secretariat documenting its activity during the past year. In satisfying this requirement any relevant reports sent to ISO may be incorporated or appended. It shall include, at a minimum, an expressed certification by the secretariat that it has been and continues to be operated in a manner that complies with all ISO directives and applicable ANSI procedures that have been communicated to it.

Please remember that all ANSI-Accredited U.S. TAGs to ISO must complete both parts of the Compliance E-mail by February 1, 2016. In the past, some TAG Administrators have provided one of the required forms instead of both, so please remember to complete Part 1 and Part 2 and submit both to psa@ansi.org. Extension requests may be directed to psa@ansi.org.

Two sessions will be offered of a brief webinar to review the Compliance E-mail; both sessions will cover the same information.
