ANSI approves air curtain testing standard.

Press Release Summary:

AMCA announced that ANSI's Board of Standards Review approved ANSI/AMCA Standard 220-05(R2012), which may be used to establish uniform methods for laboratory testing of air curtains to determine aerodynamic performance in terms of air flow rate, outlet air velocity uniformity, power consumption, and air velocity projection, for rating or guarantee purposes. Standard is not intended to specify testing procedures to be used for design, production, or field testing.

ANSI/AMCA STANDARD 220-05 (R2012), "Laboratory Methods of Testing Air Curtain Units for Aerodynamic Performance Rating"

Arlington Heights, IL, USA---The Air Movement and Control Association International, Inc. (AMCA International) announced that the Board of Standards Review of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved the following document on March 29, 2012: ANSI/AMCA Standard 220-05(R2012), "Laboratory Methods of Testing Air Curtain Units for Aerodynamic Performance Rating." This standard covers the performance testing of air curtain units.

This standard may be used to establish uniform methods for laboratory testing of air curtain units to determine aerodynamic performance in terms of air flow rate, outlet air velocity uniformity, power consumption and air velocity projection, for rating or guarantee purposes and are not intended to specify the testing procedures to be used for design, production, or field testing.

AMCA International is accredited by ANSI as a standards developer using the "canvass" method. The canvass method provides and promotes a process that verifies the principles of openness have been followed in the approval procedure.
