AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology Elects New Board of Directors and Officers


AMT elected its 2005-2006 officers and directors today at its 2005 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

The Board of Directors of the association, which represents some 350 American manufacturers of machine tools, manufacturing machinery and related products, elected Douglas K. Woods, President & C.E.O., Liberty Precision Industries, Rochester, N.Y., as Chairman. He replaces David J. Burns, President & C.O.O., The Ex One Company, Irwin, Pa. Mr. Burns will now serve the association as an Ex-Officio member of its Board of Directors.

The Board elected Bradley L. Lawton, President, Star Cutter Co., Farmington Hills, Mich., to serve as First Vice Chairman.

Richard P. Bodine, Jr., Chairman, Bodine Assembly & Test Systems, Bridgeport, Conn., will serve the association as Second Vice Chairman and Treasurer during the coming year.

J. Patrick Ervin, President & C.E.O., Hardinge Inc., Elmira, N.Y., will serve as Secretary.

Newly elected to three-year terms as members of the association's Board of Directors are Daniel D. Janka, President, Cincinnati Machine, LLC, MAG Industrial Automation Systems, Hebron, Ky.; Stephen R. Light, President and Chief Executive Officer, Flow International Corp.; and David Tilstone, President, Extrude Hone Corp., Irwin, Pa. Re-elected to a three-year term as a member of the Board of Directors is Brian J. Papke, President, Mazak Corp., Florence, Ky.

Douglas K. Woods is President and Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Precision Industries, Rochester, N.Y. A graduate of Syracuse University, he has been involved with the machine automation industry since 1975. He has been an active member of AMT and served on the Custom Automated Systems Group.

Bradley L. Lawton is President of Star Cutter Co., Farmington Hills, Mich. He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University. He has been an active member of the AMT Government Relations Committee since 1998, and has served as Chairman. He has held leadership positions in the United States Cutting Tool Institute and the Michigan Tooling Association.

Richard P. Bodine, Jr. is Chairman of the Board of The Bodine Corp., Bridgeport, Conn. He joined the company in 1973, after graduating from Lehigh University. Mr. Bodine is a member of the AMT Government Relations Committee. He is active in many community activities and is Chairman of the Board - United Way of Eastern Fairfield County and was Board President of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA.

J. Patrick Ervin is President and Chief Executive Officer of Hardinge Inc., Elmira, N.Y. His career at Hardinge began in 1979 and he has held positions in sales and marketing, manufacturing, and engineering. Mr. Ervin holds a master's degree in Business Administration from Syracuse University.

Daniel D. Janka is President, Cincinnati Machine, LLC, MAG Industrial Automation Systems, Hebron, Ky. Prior to that he was Executive Vice President of Cincinnati Lamb, a company comprised of the merged Cincinnati Machine and Lamb Technicon operations. He joined Cincinnati Milacron's Machine Tool Group in 1984. Mr. Janka holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering & Technology from Southern Illinois University and attended the University of Cincinnati's Advanced Management program.

Stephen R. Light is President and Chief Executive Officer, Flow International Corp., Kent, Wash. Prior to joining Flow, he was President and C.E.O. of Omniquip Textron Group Inc., and had held senior management positions at firms including Bucyrus International Inc., Emerson Electric Co., and General Electric Co. Mr. Light has a degree in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University and did post-graduate work at Union College and the University of Louisville.

David Tilstone is President, Extrude Hone Corp., Irwin, Pa. He was previously Vice President and Director of Global Metalworking Sales and Marketing Operations for Kennametal Inc., and has managed marketing, sales, and engineering operations in China and manufacturing operations in Shanghai. Mr. Tilstone holds degrees in Liberal Arts and Chemical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and has a master's degree in Management Science from North Carolina State University.

Brian J. Papke is President of Mazak Corporation of Florence, Ky. He has been in this position since 1989. Prior to his appointment as President, Mr. Papke had served several management positions with Mazak, including Executive Vice President and Vice President Sales & Marketing. Mr. Papke is a graduate of the University of Illinois.
