AMCA International announces new staff, reorganization.

AMCA International Announces New Staff and Reorganization



ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - The Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International Inc. is pleased to announce the hiring of two additional staff members, both of whom have PhDs in their respective fields.



Dan Manole, PhD, joined AMCA on August 22 as the new Director of Certification, effective on September 22. His principal role will be to lead the AMCA Certified



Ratings Program (CRP). Dr. Manole has considerable experience and education in the fields of mechanical engineering, standards and certification, with strong experience in team building and process improvement. Directly relating to the AMCA CRP, Dan has over 22 years of experience in certification and accreditation, including working in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy, ASHRAE, AHRI, ISO, CSA, UL and ENERGY STAR. Dr. Manole has more than 20 patents and a PhD in engineering and applied sciences from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Science degree in HVAC engineering from the University of Galati in Romania.



John Cowie, PhD, joined AMCA as Advocacy Manager on August 31. Dr. Cowie will be representing AMCA and its members' technical positions on committees and at hearings of code bodies and standards-setting organizations, including ASHRAE, IAPMO, NFPA and ICC. Previously, Dr. Cowie performed technical and business consulting for a wide spectrum of industrial users of advanced materials worldwide. He has a combined 17 years of association management experience at the American He has a combined 17 years of association management experience at both the American Forest and Paper Association and the Copper Development Association. Dr. Cowie earned three engineering degrees from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, including a doctorate in materials science.



AMCA also announced that on September 22, Joseph Brooks, PE, the current Director of Certification, will become the Director of Standards and Publications. Tim Orris, CAE, the current Director of Standards and Publications, will become the Director of Member Services.
