Altera's 28-nm FPGA Portfolio Continues to Receive Industry Accolades

Portfolio Tailored to Address Designer's Power, Performance and Price Requirements

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) today announced its 28-nm portfolio has received recognition from two prestigious electronic trade publications. Electronics Weekly selected Altera's 28-nm portfolio as the "Semiconductor Product of the Year - Digital" at its annual Elektra European Electronics Industry Awards. EDN Magazine also selected Altera's 28-nm SoC FPGA family as one of its "100 Hot Products of 2011." These accolades represent the latest in a series of awards and recognitions Altera's 28-nm portfolio has received since its introduction in 2011.

The Elektra European Electronics Industry Awards are the most prestigious product, technology and business awards in Europe. Founded by Electronics Weekly in 2003, the awards recognize the achievements of individuals and companies in the electronics industry. A panel of independent industry experts and a representative from Electronics Weekly selected Altera's 28-nm FPGA portfolio as the winner of the "Semiconductor Product of the Year - Digital" from a pool of six nominees. The portfolio was selected for its performance, design flexibility and suitability for applications. Winners of the Elektra '11 awards were announced at a ceremony at the London Park Plaza in December 2011.

EDN Magazine also selected Altera's SoC FPGA, which integrate an ARM-based hard processor system (HPS) with the fabric of a 28-nm FPGA, as one of its "100 Hot Products of 2011." The list highlights the electronics industry's most significant products of the year based on innovation, significance, usefulness, and popularity as determined by the magazine's editors and readers.

Altera's 28-nm FPGA portfolio is the industry's most comprehensive set of devices tailored to meet the customer's diverse design requirements. The portfolio provides customers with clearly differentiated solutions across its Arria(®) V, Cyclone(®) V, and Stratix(®) V product families. Altera's SoC FPGAs integrate an ARM-based hard processor system including a dual-core ARM(®) Cortex(TM)-A9 MPCore(TM)- processor, peripherals and memory interfaces with the fabric of a 28-nm FPGA using a high-bandwidth interconnect backbone. By investing in process technology, architecture, transceiver technology, and hard intellectual property (IP) blocks, Altera's 28-nm portfolio enables designers to meet their unique cost, performance, and low power needs with less time and effort.
