Alpha Plastics Solutions Adds to Product Line with Super Blue®

May 15, 2009

(Pawcatuck, Conn.)--Alpha Plastics Solutions, Inc. of Muskego, Wisconsin, takes pride in manufacturing thermoplastic products of all shapes and sizes for both OEM and proprietary consumer markets. The company also takes pride in turning those products around quickly and at a fair price. This ambitious business philosophy requires dependable and cost-effective equipment that can service present and future business needs. That is why Alpha Plastic Solutions added a Davis-Standard Super Blue® extruder for the production of foamed, rigid PVC profiles. The extruder, installed in early 2009, has expanded Alpha Plastics Solutions' extrusion business in the residential housing and industrial markets, which has remained steady despite the economic slowdown.

"We appreciate the reliability of the Super Blue; it is quiet and runs well. We also like that Davis-Standard has a progressive team and a stock parts program," said Tim Hogan, president of Alpha Plastics Solutions. "We run 24/7 which allows customers the ability to order product JIT (just-in-time), providing them with reduced inventories and allowing them to maximize profits. Because of that, it's important for us to have quality equipment that provides value for our dollar."

The Super Blue, available in sizes from 2 to 4 ½ inches (50 to 114mm), is engineered to give custom processors like Alpha Plastics Solutions a versatile and value-added machine with a quick delivery. It is equipped to handle extrusion applications in pipe and profile, sheet, fiber, film and basic wire and cable, and is standard with a three-year warranty. As noted by Hogan, the extruder is quiet, operating with a low noise, high-torque double-reduction gearbox. It also has a high capacity air-cooling system that is advantageous for custom operations.

Customization is what Alpha Plastics Solutions is all about. The company's unique and diverse product line enables them to service multiple business sectors, differentiating them from most competitors. They also run a lean, customer-focused operation and are equipped to pursue new markets. This includes equipment for injection molding, extrusion, co-extrusion and thermoforming, as well as decorating capabilities that include in-mold labeling, hot stamping and pad printing.

"The main reason we've been able to weather this current economy is due to our equipment and product diversity," explained Hogan. "We run a very lean operation and will continue to do so. We're also committed to working closely with our customers to provide quality products and service."

The company recently moved into a modern 25,000 square foot (2,300 square meter) facility to better support its broad U.S. customer base. This facility houses a vast array of machines for making small to very large parts and is organized according to the 5S practices of Six Sigma and the MRP (Material Requirements Planning) system to streamline production flow. Most recently, Alpha Plastics Solutions has seen a boost in its business for the medical and food markets.
