Alcantara® Featured on Steering Wheels and Motorcycle Seats

MILAN, – Many of the world's premier auto makers offer Alcantara® materials on seating, instrument panels and headliners, but a growing number of vehicle makers are finding other uses for Alcantara as well.

Ducati, for example, recently introduced Alcantara seating on one of its high-end motorcycles, while more and more car companies are equipping their steering wheels with the material.

Today the Italian-made material is featured on the seats of Ducati's new Diavel Titanium motorcycle, and Alcantara-clad steering wheels can be found on vehicles sprinting down the racetrack or on the road.

Alcantara is up to 50 percent lighter than leather, is more breathable and provides additional "grip" regardless of temperature and extreme driving conditions. The material also is scratch-proof, less sensitive to variations in temperature and classified as Carbon Neutral.

Car buyers today can find Alcantara-wrapped steering wheels on the Porsche Cayman GT4 and GT3 RS, BMW's 5 Series and M performance range, and all of Audi's RS models in addition to a host of other luxury sports cars.

Designed to guarantee the best driving experience possible, the environmentally friendly material also adds value to vehicles such as Lincoln's Black Label models, the Ford Edge, Dodge's Hellcat Challenger and Hellcat Charger, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio and Peugeot's 2008 Castagna special edition, as well as Peugeot's RCZ racing Cup Replica and RCZ R Bimota.

In addition, Alcantara is the material of choice on top-of-the-line sports cars such as the Aston Martin V12, Vantage GT and Vulcan; Ferrari FF; Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4, Aventador SV and Pirelli Edition; Lotus Evora 400; McLaren 675 LT; Honda NSX; Maserati GranTurismo MC, and the Nissan Juke Nismo RS.
