Air Products Will Turn Its PROCESS EXPO Booth Into the "Cold Zone" to Demonstrate the Benefits of Cryogenic Food Processing

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. - Food manufacturers looking to remove heat from their processes and improve the quality, throughput, and shelf life of their products are invited to the Air Products (NYSE: APD) "Cold Zone" at PROCESS EXPO 2013 in Chicago, Ill., from November 3-6. Designed to illustrate Air Products' leadership in cryogenic technology applications, the Air Products booth will demonstrate the benefits of using liquid nitrogen and carbon dioxide for a variety of food processing applications, including process cooling and food freezing.

Food processors are invited to Air Products' booth #4152, where they will see some fascinating demonstrations of the power of liquid nitrogen--one of the world's coldest refrigerants--performed by Executive Chef Austin Yancey, a renowned chef schooled in the field of molecular gastronomy. The company will also have a "CO(2) Bar" with carbonated refreshments to celebrate the company's recent acquisition of EPCO Carbon Dioxide Products, which adds liquid carbon dioxide to Air Products' portfolio of food industry offerings. Also on display in the Cold Zone will be Air Products' Freshline® QS tunnel freezer, an easy-to-operate, quick-start cryogenic freezing system.

Air Products will have a team of food specialists on-hand to help food processors determine how liquid nitrogen and carbon dioxide can improve their food processing operations. The company can also test a customer's product on commercial-scale equipment at one of Air Products' food laboratories in the U.S., Europe and Asia to determine the feasibility of using cryogenic freezing or chilling for their specific process. With more than 40 years of experience and know-how in the food industry, Air Products has helped a variety of processors improve productivity, increase product yields, and lower costs while producing high-quality food products.

Air Products has Freshline® solutions for every type of customer, from large manufacturers with multiple product lines to small food processors with a niche product and every operation in between. The company offers a range of Freshline® cryogenic systems that can freeze and chill a wide variety of food products, such as bakery items, fruit and vegetables, seafood, meat and poultry, prepared meals, and more.
