AIM Names Percival & Williams Honorees at RFID Partnership Breakfast
Award Winners Recognized for Achievements During LIVE! 2015 Event
Cranberry Township, PA – AIM, the industry association and worldwide authority on barcode, RFID, RTLS, NFC and mobile computing, announced this morning the recipients of two additional awards as part of its annual AIM Industry Awards for 2015.
The presentations came during the 2015 RFID Leadership Breakfast, hosted by AIM in conjunction with this week’s RFID Journal LIVE! event in San Diego, California.
The Don Percival Award, co-sponsored by AIM and SCAN – The Data Capture Report, was presented this year to Rick Lewis, Business Analyst in Aircraft Maintenance for Delta Air Lines. It honors outstanding contributions to the application of AIDC technologies in the user community.
Mr. Lewis, who began his career at Delta as an airline technician more than 20 years ago, now manages Delta’s RFID program. His commitment to both RFID and passenger safety are well known. One significant project Mr. Lewis recently oversaw was Delta’s implementation of RFIDAeroCheck, designed to maximize the useful life of assets on Delta’s aircraft by providing RFID technology that fulfills required aircraft maintenance and security sweeps in a timely and cost effective manner. Inevitably, not only enhancing labor costs, but airline passenger security and safety as well.
A collaborative effort to further the growth of the AIDC industry in academia is the basis for the Ted Williams Award, which was given to Peter Hawrylak, PhD of the University of Tulsa.
Dr. Hawrylak is an Assistant Professor in Electrical & Computer Engineering who holds twelve patents in the RFID space and is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Radio Frequency Identification Technology & Applications. His areas of expertise are in securing embedded systems, wireless devices, and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). He is an active participant in several AIM committees including the Internet of Things (IoT) and RFID Experts Group (REG).
AIM’s RFID Partnership Breakfast brings together industry executives to share the latest trends, innovations and technologies in the radio frequency identification (RFID) industry. This year’s annual breakfast, held during RFID Journal LIVE!, featured Bill McBeath, Chief Research Officer of ChainLink Research, and helped launch the 2015 AIM Pavilion at LIVE!, the largest at this year’s show.
