AIM Board elects new Chairs for RFID/symbology committees.

AIM Announces New Chairs for Technical Committees



Mr. George Wright, IV and Dr. Patrick King to Serve

Warrendale, PA - The Board of Directors of AIM, the international association and recognized authority on bar code, RFID, and mobile IT, has announced the election of Mr. George Wright IV, Product Identification and Processing Systems (PIPS) as TSC chair and Dr. Patrick King, Michelin Americas as REG chair for 2011. Their elections fulfill the committee guideline for annual rotation of the chair position. Election of the vice chairs to rotate into the chair position for the following year will take place at the meetings in January 2011.

Mr. Wright, vice president, PIPS has served on the TSC for many years, and was elected in 2010 to serve as vice chair of the committee. He is well recognized within the bar code industry and is an active member of AIM's ADC1 TAG standards committee.

Dr. King, Global Electronics Strategist for Michelin, has served as vice chair of the REG for the past year. He is well recognized within the international automotive and RFID industries, and was the 2006 AIM Percival Award recipient. He is a frequent speaker at RFID events.

The Technical Symbology Committee (TSC) is comprised of individuals from AIM member companies who are the world's leading experts on symbology design, as well as printing and decoding algorithms. Companies actively work with the committee to ensure a complete technical specification is available to the market. Many symbologies published as AIM specifications have moved into the international community and ISO standardization.

About the REG

Founded in 2004, the RFID Experts Group (REG) is the AIM committee responsible for addressing the standards and issues associated with radio frequency identification (RFID). The REG is currently comprised of over 40 organizations from the U.S., Europe, and Asia. The REG has authored five ISO Technical Reports (on Security, Recycling, ISO/IEC 18000-6C Labeling, installation of ISO/IEC 18000-6C reading systems and ISO/IEC TR24729-4-Tag Security.). The committee has also submitted The RFID Emblem (ISO/IEC 29160) as an ISO standard to assist in consumer notification of RFID and to assist in operational use of the technology.
