Agilent Technologies Enhances N4010A Wireless Connectivity Test Set to Test Bluetooth 2.0 EDR Standards

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that its N4010A Wireless Connectivity Test Set supports the Bluetooth® Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) test mode and offers new audio generation and analysis capabilities for Bluetooth audio test. Developers, integrators and manufacturers now have a single test set for ensuring devices adhere to the Bluetooth Special Interest Group's (SIG's) version 1.2 and 2.0 standards.
The Bluetooth EDR test specification was developed by the Bluetooth SIG in order to provide a set of conformance tests for the air interface, as well as to ensure interoperability among Bluetooth devices. The latest version of Bluetooth -- Bluetooth EDR -- supports data rates of up to 3 Mbps and remains backward-compatible with the original Bluetooth specification. Its two new modulation schemes allow multiple applications to utilize available bandwidth more effectively and achieve higher overall performance.
To ensure Bluetooth EDR devices adhere to the new standard, the N4010A now enables loopback testing of EDR transmitters and receivers. Six of the eight Bluetooth 2.0 EDR test cases are integrated into the N4010A. The remaining two can be made utilizing the N4010A and additional equipment.
The N4010A has also been enhanced with new capability for functional test of Bluetooth audio devices. The built-in audio generation and analysis capabilities eliminate the need for a separate audio source and analyzer, streamlining test configurations and minimizing the cost of test.
