Press release date: May 10, 2012

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that the Agilent PXT wireless communications test set is now available for testing voice quality on Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) 4G phones with the Brel & Kjr PULSE Audio Analyzer and Head and Torso Simulator (HATS). Transporting voice over a packet-based LTE cellular infrastructure poses challenges that make voice-quality testing essential. The Agilent and Brel & Kjr solution combines standards-based test methods with real-world base station emulation, RF test and functional test to ensure that VoLTE phones will meet user's expectations. "The performance of our measurement systems relies heavily on the capability of the test equipment we support, so we are pleased to announce that, in working closely with Agilent, we now offer this complete VoLTE audio quality test solution to our customers," said Lars B. Nielsen, market manager for Telecom & Audio within Brel & Kjr. "Our PULSE Audio Analyzer and HATS system offer an industry-leading platform for audio quality measurements." The Brel & Kjr PULSE Audio Analyzer and HATS system support testing based on commonly used international standards such as ITU-T P.862 PESQ, 3GPP2 and 3GPP audio test specifications. The Agilent PXT wireless communication test set represents a significant breakthrough in testing LTE user equipment. It incorporates flexible base station/network emulation, RF parametric and functional tests into one integrated unit and extends Agilent's unmatched portfolio of LTE test solutions for development and verification. Used with Agilent's E6966A IMS-SIP Network Emulator Software, the Agilent PXT enables VoLTE phones to make end-to-end voice and video calls using a wide range of industry standard codecs.
