AFLAS 100 and 150 Series Fluoroelastomers are Ideal for Molded and Extruded Components Used in Extreme Environments

Unique formulation yields superior performance characteristics over conventional FKM-type fluoroelastomers

EXTON, Pa. – AGC Chemicals Americas Inc. offers AFLAS® 100 and 150 Series fluoroelastomers for molded and extruded components that need to withstand extreme conditions such as heat, steam, and corrosive chemicals. AFLAS fluoroelastomers are a preferred product for manufacturing wire and cable coatings, engine seals, gaskets and other high-endurance components for use in a variety of industries.

Classified by ASTM D 1418-01 as FEPM, AFLAS fluoroelastomers are copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene and propylene. This combination gives AFLAS fluoroelastomers unique properties over conventional FKM-type fluoroelastomers. AFLAS products impart outstanding flexibility and toughness when formulated into polymer products and molded parts. AFLAS products are environmentally sound and mix well with other performance-enhancing additives.

"The AFLAS 100 and 150 Series products have been used successfully in engine components of cars and heavy-duty diesel vehicles, and in seals for pumps and well completions for downhole oil and gas systems," said Drew D'Agosta, AGC sales and marketing manager for AFLAS. "They provide high-performance characteristics and extended life to parts that must stand up to harsh conditions for critical applications."
