AEC Teams up with Aluminum Association & AAC for 'Aluminum Week' in Chicago



Aluminum Association and AEC will hold individual meetings along with joint sessions

Wauconda, Illinois - The Aluminum Association and the Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) have unveiled details for Aluminum Week, a new event that features a comprehensive educational and networking program for aluminum industry professionals. Aluminum Week is scheduled for September 20 - 23, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Rosemont, Illinois and will feature collocated events, including the Aluminum Association Annual Meeting and the new AEC Extrusion Symposium, an educational conference for the aluminum extrusion industry. In addition, the Aluminum Anodizers Council (AAC) will be unveiling their new Anodizing Quality Workshop-the next level of anodizing education in the AAC School for Anodizers program-in conjunction with Aluminum Week. The week-long event is composed of programming aimed at keeping aluminum industry professionals apprised of the latest technical, business, and industry issues, as well as highlighting aluminum's role as the "green" material for a sustainable future.

Aluminum Week features sessions and events open to both Aluminum Association and AEC members:

Tuesday, September 21 features an R & D Panel Discussion moderated by Dr. Warren H. Hunt, Jr., TMS Executive Director. Conducted over lunch, the discussion will focus on research and development within the aluminum industry on topics including Alloy Development with a Focus on Cradle-To-Cradle Recycling; Responsibilities, Challenges and Opportunities for the Aluminum Industry; and The Future of Anodizing: The First Commercially Available Nanoscale Coating. Scheduled panelists include Diran Apelian, Howmet Professor of Engineering, Director of Metal Processing Institute, Worcester Polytechnic Institute; and Dr. Jude Mary Runge, President of CompCote International, Inc., AAC Education Committee Chair.

Wednesday, September 22 includes a Keynote Breakfast with featured speaker Ron Elving, Political Analyst & Washington Editor of National Public Radio.

Receptions will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for Aluminum Association and AEC members to network.

*Aluminum Association members and AEC members can also purchase tabletop exhibit space to feature their latest products and company information as part of the 'Aluminum Marketplace.' These exhibits will be displayed during all joint networking and meal functions. A limited-number of tables will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
