Advanced Manufacturing Media Announces Key Business Updates



Staffing changes to support success of enhanced website, new magazine and successful podcasts



(DEARBORN, Mich.,) – SME’s Advanced Manufacturing Media, which produces Manufacturing Engineering magazine, Smart Manufacturing magazine and various other manufacturing media products and services, has made several key staffing changes. Additionally, the media group is pleased to announce it has seen significant success with its new advancedmanufacturing.org website and its Advanced Manufacturing Now podcast, which launched in April.



“Advanced Manufacturing Media has seen a lot of exciting changes in our content and products in 2016, including launching the successful Smart Manufacturing magazine and our well-received podcast, as well as updating our website,” said Dave O’Neil, vice president of Advanced Manufacturing Media. “The website has already seen increased traffic, and we’re pleased with the steady stream of podcast downloads.”



Staffing updates include the promotion of Jim Sawyer to editor in chief of Manufacturing Engineering magazine, and Brett Brune, who has taken on the role of editor in chief of Smart Manufacturing magazine. Additionally, Alan Rooks will be joining Advanced Manufacturing Media Aug. 29 as a senior editor of Manufacturing Engineering magazine.



Sawyer has been with Manufacturing Engineering magazine since 2008; and has been executive editor since 2014.  Brune was in the role of Smart Manufacturing magazine editor since February. Rooks joins the media group after having served as editorial director of “Cutting Tool Engineering” and “MICROmanufacturing” magazines. Sarah Webster previously served in the role of director of content of Advanced Manufacturing Media and is no longer with the organization.



The updated website, AdvancedManufacturing.org, rolled out in June and traffic doubled in the first month. The new site offers responsive design, tripling mobile traffic. The audience makeup is quite diverse, with more than 50 percent of web viewers being millennials and 40 percent are female.
