Adept Technology Selected by Integrated BioSciences, Inc. as Robotics Partner for Standard Medical Platform

Order for 16 Cobra i600 SCARA Robots Marks Design Win on Innovative System Aimed at Growing Medical Device Contract Manufacturing Market

LIVERMORE, Calif.-March 20, 2007-Adept Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADEP), the leading provider of intelligent vision-guided robotics and global robotics services, announces that Integrated BioSciences, Inc., (IBS) an FDA registered, ISO 13485:2003 and ISO 9001:2000 certified medical device contract manufacturer, has selected Adept Technology as their exclusive robot supplier. IBS has purchased sixteen Adept Cobra(TM) i600 SCARA robots which will be used to build an automation line for high speed assembly of a class II medical device for a major international customer.

The Cobra i600 robot was selected for its flexibility, speed, precision, intelligence and cleanliness and provides IBS with a robotics platform capable of equipment recapitalization, higher throughput, tighter assembly tolerances and more complete product traceability than alternative robotic solutions. The innovative controller-in-base design of the Cobra i600 reduces controller cabinet floor space requirements, streamlined cell communications and simplified system design and operation.

IBS is unique in the medical device contract manufacturing industry since they have an in-house automation design and build group as well as an engineering staff with extensive experience in the use of automation and systems integration. By integrating standard robotic automation cells and contract medical device production, IBS is able to offer a more seamless solution for medical device manufacturing, offering the lower costs of offshore production with the proximity, regulatory compliance and intellectual property protection of domestic manufacturing. This results in better on-time deliveries, and greater production efficiencies and higher profitability throughout the entire medical device product life cycle.

"Integrated BioSciences' selection of Adept as their robotics partner represents a major success for us in the demanding medial device market," said John Dulchinos, vice president of sales & marketing for Adept Technology, "it represents a strong endorsement of our products and support."

"The advanced performance and technical capabilities of Adept's robots along with their strong customer support organization make them an ideal partner for our medical device business strategy." said Edward Paukovits, IBS president.
