ABB Robotics and Axium Inc. Announce a Strategic Relationship for Mixed Load Packing and Palletizing

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (April 20, 2010) - ABB Robotics North America, a leading supplier of industrial robots, announced the appointment of Axium Inc. as a Strategic Channel Partner in North America for case packing and palletizing, with a special emphasis on mixed load technology. Mixed load applications in both case packing and palletizing are highly demanding, requiring intelligent planning and execution software to deal with a nearly unlimited range of product combinations. Axium uses ABB robots exclusively with their Cube-IQ Software for project planning, set up and execution.

Axium Inc., based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, is well established in the Canadian market, and is investing heavily to build a full North American footprint.

"Our packaging and distribution center customers have been clear that they need mixed load solutions in both case packing and palletizing operations," said Joe Campbell, vice president of sales and marketing, ABB Robotics North America. "Axium's packaging and palletizing systems match the market demand for flexible solutions that meet demands for a shorter supply chain, reduced lot sizes and reduced shipping costs."

"ABB has the most advanced industrial robotic products and systems in the industry and we are excited to expand our relationship with them in North America," said Robert Jodoin, president of Axium Inc. "The combined expertise of ABB Robotics and Axium is uniquely capable to serve to growing market requirements for mixed load packing and palletizing."
