AAEON Releases Two New AMD G-Series SoC Processor Solutions for Mini-ITX Board and COM Express Module

New AMD processors bring flexibility in cost, performance &power

Taipei, Taiwan — AAEON, a major developer of industrial computing solutions, today releases the new EMB-KB1 Mini-ITX embedded board and COM-KB COM Express module, both featuring the latest AMD embedded G-Series SoC processors. The rich interfaces and features offered for graphics and industrial applications, including high performance and low power consumption make these two cutting-edge products perfect for embedded market.

The AMD Embedded G-Series APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) combines a low-power CPU and advanced GPU onto a single chip, revolutionizing the experience for users with smaller, lighter devices without compromising performance or features. While the AMD Embedded G-Series APU is ideal for cost-conscious applications, the AMD Embedded G-Series SoC (System-on-Chip) takes the architecture one step further and combines the I/O controller onto the same chip as the APU, making it the ideal fit for applications requiring ultra-low power and small form factor processors.

The system memory of EMB-KB1 deploys with two SODIMM 204-pin DDR3/DDR3L 1333/1600 memory up to 16 GB. Realtek RTL8111F supports Gigabit Ethernet that allows faster network connections. This model applies PCI-Express x4, one VGA, one DVI-D, one full-size Mini Card (PCIe + USB -) plus SIM card (mSATA optional) and one optional half-size Mini Card. In addition, two SATA 6.0Gb/s are configured on the EMB-KB1. The EMB-KB1 also equips eight USB2.0 and two USB3.0 ports for flexible I/O expansions.

The system memory of COM-KB deploys with one SODIMM 204-pin DDR3 1333/1600/1866 memory up to 16 GB. Realtek RTL8111E supports Gigabit Ethernet that allows faster network connections. This model applies five PCI-Express x1, one LPC bus and two SMBus. Moreover, two SATA 3.0Gb/s are configured on the COM-KB. COM-KB also equips eight USB2.0 (including two USB3.0) for flexible I/O expansions. The display of COM-KB supports up to two independent displays simultaneously. This new COM Express module is developed to cater to the requirements of automation, medical, ticket machine, transportation, gaming, KIOSK, and POS/POI applications.

"The EMB-KB1 and COM-KB are AAEON's first two AMD embedded G-Series SoC solutions. We are pleased to see that AMD G-series processors have advanced improvement of graphic and power consumption," said Wayne Chen, CTO of AAEON. "With AAEON's great design capability and customization support, I believe that the EMB-KB1 and COM-KB will be ideal choices for graphic-related applications."
