Zebra Imaging's ZScape Motion Display (ZMD) Named a TIME Magazine "Best Invention of the Year"

AUSTIN, Texas - Zebra Imaging Inc., the world's foremost provider of 3D holographic displays and visualization technologies, announced today that its real-time holographic ZScape(TM) Motion Display was named one of TIME's 50 Best Inventions of 2011. The ZScape(TM) Motion Display is the world's first real-time, full- parallax, interactive holographic light-field display.

A prototype of the ZScape Motion Display (ZMD) technology was developed with support of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) under the Urban Photonic Sandtable Display (UPSD) Program. The prototype ZMD is scalable from 6 inches up to 6 feet diagonal, and supports viewing of streaming sensor data in near real-time without the need for additional viewing aids or 3-D goggles. This enables 3D information including topography, cityscapes, and other critical data to be displayed and viewed by up to 20 users simultaneously and naturally- allowing for immediate and accurate collaboration, planning and consensus-building.

TIME Magazine's recognition of this new 3D holographic technology is further validation of the truly innovative nature of this breakthrough capability. TIME's annual recognition of top 50 inventions has featured many of the last 10 year's most innovative products in Science, Technology and the Arts- including the iPad and the world's first synthetic cells.

"This honor caps years of research and multiple scientific breakthroughs to bring holographic 3D video to a variety of markets, and singularly establishes Zebra Imaging at the forefront of true holographic technology," said Al Wargo, CEO of Zebra Imaging.

Zebra Imaging's innovative holographic technologies and products are already used to visualize complex 3D information from multiple software programs and 3D data sources by professionals across many industries, including leading engineering and architecture firms, and civil and defense agencies.

The ZScape(TM) Motion Display was also recently featured as a "Future is Now" technology in the November 17, 2011 issue of Fortune magazine.
