ZEISS Showcases Digital Microscopy Technology at AACR Annual Meeting

Powerful, innovative research tools from the laboratory to the classroom

Carl Zeiss Microscopy will be showcasing a range of its digital microscopy products at this year's annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), April 5-9, 2014, in San Diego, CA. Featured at booth #2426 will be the ZEISS Axio Scan.Z1 automated scanning system, the ZEISS Axio Imager 2 microscope platform, and the ZEISS Primostar HD classroom microscope. Visitors to the booth who test out Primostar HD can enter a drawing for a free pair of ZEISS binoculars, and become eligible for discounts and extended warrantees. In addition, a team of ZEISS experts will be available to discuss Zeiss' ability to meet cancer research application and experimental challenges.

The Axio Scan.Z1 allows researchers to digitalize fixed tissue sections and cytologic specimens in brightfield and fluorescence, supporting scientists with recurring tasks in the capture of large sample contingents, such as cancer research tissue analysis. Ideal for a wide area of applications ranging from basic research to tasks in the pharmaceutical industry, the Axio Scan.Z1 captures the entire specimen area of up to 100 microscope slides at a time. Just a few minutes later, the self-calibrating automatized slide scanner presents specimens on high-quality virtual slides. Easily scalable, the Axio Scan.Z1 allows users to decide at the outset how many microscope slides and which detection modes and camera they wish to use, and then simply upgrade Axio Scan.Z1 as their tasks expand. As a special offer, customers who demo Axio Scan.Z1 at AACR 2014 and purchase by October 31, 2014 without requiring an additional demo will receive a 20 percent discount and an extra year of warranty coverage.

Also featured will be the Axio Imager 2 upright research microscope platform. Combining brilliant optics and bright fluorescents, the Axio Imager 2 is perfect for an impressive number of applications in cell biology, neuroscience, molecular genetics, and pathology. Easily adaptable for tasks ranging from observation and recording to highly complex imaging experiments, the system can be tailored to researchers' needs and easily upgraded at any time. Six different stand versions can be paired with high-end fluorescence imaging systems and laser scanning microscopes for maximum precision. ZEN imaging software makes it easy to auto-configure all motorized components and to encode read-out magnification, illumination, and contrast settings. Designed with ergonomic working conditions and multi-user operation in mind, the Axio Imager 2 yields reproducible results quickly and efficiently.

In addition, ZEISS will present its Primostar HD microscopes for the classroom. Primostar HD, designed with long-term use and extreme durability in mind, comes with an integrated high definition streaming camera that allows all microscopes in a classroom to be connected via the free Labscope iPad 4 app. All the images can be displayed live, or recorded in high resolution and shared through e-mail, social media, and cloud services, along with reports, metadata and annotations. Primostar microscopes are equipped with both 30W halogen and energy-saving LED illumination, and can also be upgraded with the iLED fluorescence tube to switch easily between LED fluorescence excitation and transmitted light brightfield illumination. Customers who try out the Labscope app at the booth (either on their own iPad 4 or those provided by ZEISS) will be entered to win a pair of ZEISS binoculars.
