WorkForce Software Automates Workforce Management in the Higher Education Industry

LIVONIA, Mich., Nov. 28 -- WorkForce Software, Inc., a leader in workforce management solutions, announced today that Northampton Community College (NCC) signed a contract for its web-based EmpCenter(TM) software suite and services. The college licensed EmpCenter's Time and Attendance, Accruals, Labor Distribution, and Multiple Assignments modules to meet the needs of 1,000 employees, with three different unions and administrative departments.

NCC, located in Bethlehem, Pa., has focused on providing a variety of courses for recent high school graduates and adult learners for more than 35 years. NCC has staff operating 24/7 with classes offered throughout the day, evening and on weekends, and it is one of the few community colleges in the state that has campus housing.

"WorkForce Software was chosen because it had the most competitive product on the market from what we saw," said VP of Finance James Dunleavy, Northampton Community College. "We need a system to automate our time collection process and provide checks and balances of the information for auditing. WorkForce will streamline this for us."

The college has been manually tracking time and attendance, accruals, labor distribution and FMLA. An employee's time was handwritten and then re- entered into an Access database. EmpCenter automates employee interactions such as reporting time, absences, projects, time-off requests, and more to increase productivity, accuracy and eliminate errors. These interactions take place in every organization and cost the employer in time and overhead.

There are approximately 100 NCC employees in the maintenance and security departments who will use biometric time clocks to accurately track time and assignments; these employees will swipe his/her ID card and then use their thumbprint as an identifier. The remaining 900 employees will log into the application via the web browser to enter time, request time-off, etc., as well as access their information.

"WorkForce's web-based EmpCenter has the functionality and features we need to make a difference in our timekeeping," said Will Fulmer, IT administrator and project manager, Northampton Community College. "We look forward to the many benefits of the software, from eliminating the manual paper process, to having real-time access to an employee's time and whereabouts. We feel WorkForce Software was the best choice."

The college is looking forward to implementing EmpCenter. Once in place, EmpCenter will enforce its labor regulations and business rules so time and labor information will be up-to-date and accurate, payroll costs are always apportioned correctly, and the workforce can be managed within budget.

"Colleges and universities need a workforce management system that will increase productivity and better allocate the resources they have," said CEO Kevin Choksi, WorkForce Software. "We are pleased that Northampton Community College chose WorkForce Software as their business partner, and we look forward to a long-term relationship."
