Sto Corp. Provides EIFS Design that Delivers Performance and Value While Promoting Sustainability

ATLANTA - (June 25, 2008) - In a recent statement released by Sto Corp., the innovative world leader in cladding, coating and restoration systems, it was said that, because of the environmental issues of climate change and global warming, the quest for green buildings is increasingly prevalent. Energy efficiency can help resolve many issues that buildings add to these issues while saving money and reducing energy usage.

"Many of the "green" programs for both residential and commercial construction recognize plenty of factors that allow a building to use resources wisely," said Mike O'Neil, product manager for StoTherm at Sto Corp. "The energy efficiency factor allows it to truly meet the sustainable construction criteria. Energy efficiency is the key to being green."

Recent testing from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) proves this idea with EIFS making it the most important factor in defining how a high performance wall should work. The testing results of this important result can be found on the industry association's website at www.eima.com.

For more than 50 years, Sto has been committed to the concept of sustainability and energy efficiency. Our mission statement, summarized by the three words "Building with conscience" focuses on this commitment to environmental, economic and social sustainability. StoTherm NExT is an integral part of Sto's commitment to this ideal.

StoTherm NExT(TM) , an evolutionary new cladding incorporating the best of EIFS design flexibility, color range, great insulation, and light weight, and adds the best moisture protection system. With industry expertise that is unmatched and proven worldwide, its latest innovation, StoTherm NExT (New Exterior Technology), is the new industry benchmark.

As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), Sto has partnered with design and construction professionals to provide intelligent, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly building solutions that can help qualify a project for LEED certification.

StoTherm NExT is designed to meet stringent building codes for moisture protection yet still brings the best design performance of an EIF system. As with any wall cladding, proper detailing and integration with other components of construction by a qualified design or construction professional, including the proper use of flashing to prevent the accumulation of moisture within the wall assembly, is essential.

StoTherm NExT incorporates the StoGuard system to create a continuous secondary air and moisture barrier behind it to protect the sheathing and other construction components. Unlike building paper or wraps that are easily damaged or torn during the construction process,
