May 2008

Alliance, OH - Gleason Reel Corporation has named Winkle Industries as exclusive supplier of factory-authorized repair for the company's complete line of industrial cable and hose reels, as well as festoon and PowerTrak(TM) systems.

According to Mark Volansky, Director of Sales at Winkle, "Our repair capabilities can let customers restore their Gleason products to original factory condition. More importantly, though, we have the remanufacturing processes in place to turn around this kind of repair work and get them back into service very quickly. Customers save on costs, but they can also save on downtime!"

By assigning all of its repair services to Winkle, Gleason is now able to focus all of its facilities on the manufacturing of new products. Winkle is also the master distributor for Gleason repair parts, and therefore the Winkle facility in Alliance, Ohio, maintains a large inventory of the components needed to restore worn and damaged Gleason products quickly. Volansky says that Winkle's extensive experience in remanufacturing and refurbishment for the steel industry was a key factor in Gleason's decision to assign these services. "Winkle was founded on this type of work for steel mills: repairing lifting devices, crane products and related equipment. Our inspection and quality management processes are ideal for this type of project, requiring individual attention to each item. This has always been an important capability at Winkle, including related products from every manufacturer in the industry. Winkle will continue to provide repairs on other makes and models as usual. With Gleason, we have simply taken our service to the next level."

Ray Seymour, a crane products specialist in Winkle's Engineering Department, explains that the new relationship between Gleason and Winkle assures customers of factory quality results. "Gleason had its technical people come into our plant to share the factory's procedures and standards with our staff. Their drawings and their specifications are now incorporated into our database, so we can properly assess and recommend the steps required to restore the Gleason products back to OEM standards. If the work required is beyond our guidelines for economical repair, our quote will include recommendations for replacement. Ultimately, though, the customer decides how we should proceed."

"We are very proud of the confidence that Gleason has placed in our people," says Joe Schatz, President of Winkle Industries. "This agreement is a tremendous endorsement establishing Winkle as a leader in end-to-end quality management throughout the engineering and manufacturing process. It's our foundation for building the best relationships with the best partners in the materials handling industry."
