What Are Material Handling End-Users Looking For?

An end-user describes his relationship with his material handling distributor for The MHEDA Journal.

Dewitt, NY - The MHEDA Journal Online (http://www.TheMhedaJournal.org), is the leading online magazine for the forklift, conveyor, storage & handling, and general material handling equipment industries. The 2nd Quarter issue of the magazine is online now and features an interview with James Bradley, safety coordinator at Cumberland Packing, a Brooklyn, New York-based producer, distributor and marketer of natural and artificial sweeteners. Bradley discussed his relationship with his material handling distributor and the attributes that he looks for in a successful distributor.

"We use forklifts, pallet jacks, lift tables and conveyors to prepare our products for distribution," says Bradley. "The reputation of all of those products is very important to us. If we couldn't rely on the quality of our equipment, we would be lost. The equipment is integral. It makes our job possible."

In the article, Bradley discusses several key factors that he looks for when doing business with a material handling distributor. Timely service, quality products, safety features, knowledge of Cumberland's operation and a good personal relationship are among the most important things that he looks for when evaluating the distributor-customer relationship. Bradley has done business with a local distributor for more than seven years and sees no reason to look elsewhere.

"Anytime that we need the distributor to come out, they're here," says Bradley. "They show us new products, help find solutions and make sure that we're always satisfied with our equipment. They're large enough to handle any problems that may come up but not so large that we get lost in the shuffle. It's that personal relationship that keeps us coming back."
