Wavien, Inc. Demonstrates a Hard-Edge LED Spot Light with Medium Base Socket Using Recycling Light Technology

VALENCIA, Calif. -- Wavien, Inc. has developed a hard-edge LED spot light (TruSpot™) with a standard medium base socket, which produces a distinctively clean and sharp edge profile using Wavien's proprietary Recycling Light Technology (RLT™). In contrast, most medium base "spot lights" now on the market are, in reality, narrow beam flood lights which produce undefined soft edges, diminishing the highlighting effect. This TruSpot LED lamp is a simple, screw-in replacement for standard light bulbs, PAR lamps, etc., and provides a true spot light effect without the expense of custom spot light fixtures and installations. Wavien has also designed the TruSpot LED light to accept GOBO image slides so that it can be used to project advertising images.

Traditional light collection optics do not increase LED brightness and, as a result, are not efficient for spot light applications. Wavien's RLT technology is based on a very low-cost optical component that captures the wasted light in conventional lighting designs, recycles the light, and directs it back into the output beam allowing increased brightness at the spot.  "Wavien's RLT technology for LED offers outstanding brightness by recovering unused high angle light from the LED. This recycling technique is a benefit for a wide range of applications, such as our newly developed TruSpot spot light," stated Dr. Kenneth Li, President and CEO of Wavien, Inc., who is also the inventor of the recycling technology.  Dr. Li added: "Clearly the TruSpot light bulb, with the added feature of GOBO projection capability, is a breakthrough in the lighting industry, especially for retail locations where highlighting the product under the spot light is critical. The TruSpot offers real spot light performance without the expense of custom configurations," stated Dr. Li.

This LED recycling technique is also being introduced into many other areas of illumination including medical light sources and consumer projectors. Wavien will show this technology at InfoComm 2013 in Orlando, Florida from June 12 - 14 at booth #381.

About Wavien, Inc.

Wavien, based in Valencia, California, is a technology licensing company developing long-life, high-performance light sources and engine prototypes for the general light, medical lighting, entertainment, fiber optic, and the projection lighting industries.  Wavien currently offers its unique "Recycling Light Technology" for light sources including LEDs and plasma lamps. Wavien also works on laser excited phosphor using liquid cooling for high power applications for the projection industries. Wavien continues to support the lighting and projection industries with its Dual Paraboloid Reflector (DPR(TM)) technology ("DPR") using ultra-high-pressure arc lamps and high power xenon lamps.
