Press release date: April 1, 2011

ATLANTA, Ga. - WEG Electric Corp. (www.weg.net/us), a leading global solutions provider of industrial electrical technologies, reports that it continues to experience strong sales performance through the 1st quarter, which can be linked to a continued emphasis on providing solutions that customers need along with superior customer service and satisfaction.

David A. Pipes, President of WEG Electric Corp, stated "we continue to experience growth by focusing on our customers and their applications. We ask them what specific needs they have and then we provide a solution. An example of that is in December we opened a new distribution center in Kansas City, which has been fully stocked with product, answering our customers demand from that core region of the country".

Another area of growth has been the overwhelming acceptance of the new W22 motor platform, introduced in 2010, which provides our customers with a way to save energy and meet the EISA legislation as well as reducing motor noise and lowering vibration in their applications.

At the Atlanta based Headquarters additional manufacturing capabilities are being developed so that our customers will be able to order custom drive and starter panels, enclosed motor starters, soft motor starters and medium voltage drives produced and tested in the United States. "Our efforts to increase our manufacturing capabilities in the US enables us to improve the customer experience as well as shortening lead times", stated Pipes.

Also during the 1st quarter the WEG Power Transformers Group celebrated the 250th US installation and 100th unit manufactured at the state-of-the-art facility in Mexico that services North America.

In conclusion, Pipes states, "The key to our success is our employees and leadership team. The WEG Board has supported us by allowing us to continue to employ and continually strengthen our team. The recent management changes that were announced that take effect in July ensure that WEG has a long term leadership strategy for the U.S. market".
