Press release date: March 1, 2011

Morganville, New Jersey - Vytran, an innovative supplier of optical fiber splicing and processing solutions, will demonstrate an array of its optical fiber processing equipment at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference 2011 (OFC/NFOEC) in Los Angeles, California, from March 8-10, 2011. The demos will include individual process tools and all-in-one systems, including the company's flagship "FAS" fully automated fiber splicing workstation-a unique product for manufacturing optical fiber components and assemblies in high volumes.

"OFC/NFOEC gives Vytran the opportunity to showcase the breadth of our product offering for the telecom industry," said Jean-Michel Pelaprat, Vytran president and CEO. "We offer single process tools and fully integrated equipment for every step of in-plant optical fiber splicing and processing. We offer systems from manual to fully automated operation. Our fiber splicing and recoating technologies help customers develop innovative fiber components and assemblies and facilitate their manufacturing. At our OFC/NFOEC booth we'll run demos of this unique equipment so attendees can get a sense of how Vytran's tools and technical advisory could impact their processes."

Vytran will particularly highlight its fully automated FAS splicing system. FAS is an all-in-one filament fusion splicing workstation that can be configured with various "toolbox" process modules to strip, clean, cleave, splice, recoat, and proof test optical fibers. A power meter module can automate optical measurements. This flexible, modular design makes FAS a versatile tool that can be transformed to accommodate changing production requirements.

"FAS is the only fully automated splicer and factory-floor optical fiber component production system on the market today," said Bill De Costa, Vytran director of sales and marketing. "It's ideal for applications such as producing erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs), fiber laser modules and multiple splices for high-density packaging."

Vytran will also run demos of a top-selling PTR-200 series fiber recoater. Used to restore the protective coating to a stripped fiber, PTR-200 series recoaters produce a fiber section that is as smooth and flexible as the original fiber. The company will also feature its FFS-2000, a workstation that combines all fusion splicing processes into a single system so users can create high-strength, consistent splices quickly and efficiently. Other featured equipment will include a GPX-3400 glass processor and an LDC-400 large-diameter fiber cleaver.

Vytran's OFC/NFOEC booth number is 1419. For added convenience, attendees may schedule demo appointments with Bill De Costa at wjd@vytran.com.
