Vulcan Flex Circuit Corporation to Present at IPC/EXPO

LONDONDERRY, N.H., March 9, 2011 - Vulcan Flex Circuit Corporation (VFCC), a division of Maine-based Vulcan Electric Company, will be presenting a white paper at the upcoming IPC/EXPO conference in Las Vegas, NV. The paper is entitled "Results of Fabrication Design of Experiment for a Newly Developed Thin, Low Dielectric Flexible Circuit Laminate" and will be presented by Mr. Al Wasserzug, Director of Corporate Development. It is intended to support, and is co-presented with, a white paper presentation by Mr. Glenn Oliver of DuPont entitled "Design and Fabrication of Thinner, High Speed Flexible Circuits."

The two papers are scheduled for presentation during a Technical Conference Session on Thursday morning, April 14, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. They address DuPont's recently developed Pyralux TK® flexible circuit laminate material. The Vulcan paper describes the work VFCC performed in testing the fabrication compatibility of the new material. The VFCC DOE compared the TK® laminate to other common laminates in a typical flexible circuit fabrication environment. Performance results are charted and discussed in detail.

The TK® material is a composite of Teflon® and Kapton® and designed to provide a lower dielectric constant in a thinner laminate than those commonly in use. This will allow the flexible circuit designer and fabricator to produce and maintain a higher signal integrity without the need for great amounts of dielectric and/or extremely narrow signal etched traces.

Vulcan Electric Company's flexible circuit division, VFCC engineers and manufactures flexible circuits, rigid-flex circuits and circuit assemblies to various demanding industries, such as military/defense, aerospace, medical and complex industrial markets.
