Vishay Intertechnology to Showcase Industry-Leading Passive Components at eCarTec Munich 2013

Latest Inductors, Resistors, and Thermal Fuses Provide High Reliability for Hybrid and Full Electric Vehicles

MALVERN, Pa. — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced that it will be exhibiting its latest passive components in booth A6-507A at eCarTec Munich 2013, the world's largest trade fair for electric and hybrid mobility, being held at the Munich Trade Fair Centre from Oct. 15-17. At the event, the company will be highlighting industry-leading inductors, resistors, thermal fuses, and more for a wide range of applications in hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) and full electric vehicles (FEV).

At eCarTec Munich 2013, Vishay will be showcasing its IHLP® low-profile, high-current inductors; IHCL coupled inductors; and IHTH high-current through-hole inductors for DC/DC converters up to 3.6 kW. In addition, the company's thick film power resistors and massive electro-pyrotechnic ignitor chip resistor (MEPIC) will be on display for power conversion and safety applications. The devices provide high-temperature performance, high reliability, and high pulse capability for main inverters, high-energy bus systems, and energy recuperation in HEVs, in addition to converters/boosters, battery management, chargers, and safety equipment in FEVs.

To reduce component counts and provide a reliable and predictable design for voltage metering applications, Vishay's SMD MELF resistors will be on display. The devices offer low temperature coefficients from ±5 ppm/K to ±50 ppm/K, tight tolerances from ±0.02 % to ±1 %, high stability, and high pulse load capability. At eCarTec Munich 2013, Vishay will provide a demonstration of the pulse load capabilities of the devices, as well as the company's SMD film resistors. For power applications, the company will demonstrate the high-current capabilities and safety function of its HCTF thermal fuse.

For current sensing applications, Vishay will be highlighting its Power Metal Strip® current sense shunt resistors. Practically unaffected by temperature fluctuations, the devices offer resistance from 0.2 mΩ to 1 Ω, low tolerances, wide temperature ranges from -65 °C to +275 °C, power ratings to 5 W, and low thermal EMF. The devices are ideal for electric power steering (EPS), DC/DC converters, battery management systems, automatic braking systems, engine controls, airbags, and comfort controls. Vishay will be highlighting a 100 µÙ Power Metal Strip shunt resistor in an intelligent battery current sensing demonstration, which will also feature the company's solid tantalum SMD capacitors, Schottky diodes, NTC thermistors, and thick film resistors.
