Vishay Intertechnology Wins EDN China Innovation Best Product Award in the Passive Components and Sensors Category for 75 V TANTAMOUNT® Solid Tantalum Chip Capacitors
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced that it has won a 2010 EDN China Innovation Best Product Award in the Passive Components and Sensor category for its Tantamount® Hi-Rel COTS T97 and commercial, industrial-grade 597D series of solid tantalum chip capacitors. Recently enhanced with an industry-high 75 V rating and capacitance of 10 µF in the "R" case size, the devices provide high reliability in circuits with applied voltages between 25 V to 40 V, a performance level that has previously been available only with through-hole technology
The 2010 EDN China Innovation Awards recognize achievements in the design of ICs and related products in nine major technology categories. EDN registered online users vote on products based on technological innovation, market influence, and related products. A group of technical experts and senior EDN editors examine the nominated products and select the award winners. Only one company in each category receives the Best Product Award.
Part of Vishay's Tantamount tantalum capacitor family, the T97 and 597D series feature a capacitance range of 10 µF to 1500 µF and a voltage range from 4 V to 75 V in nine cases sizes, including the "V" case with a low 2-mm profile. The devices offer ultra-low ESR values down to 0.015 Ù at + 25 °C and 100 kHz, and high ripple currents to 4.1 A. The T97 series offers high-reliability screening options including Weibull grading, and surge current testing options in accordance with MIL-PRF-55365.
The 597D capacitors are optimized for industrial automation and control systems, while the T97 devices are designed for safety-critical applications such as those found in the military and aerospace industries, including dc-to-dc converters and power distribution in weapons and radar systems, avionics, and space-based electronics.
