HONG KONG - Altai Technologies, a carrier-grade Super WiFi equipment supplier, today announced that a tier one carrier in Vietnam has deployed the nation's first city-wide WiFi network in the city of Ha Long using Altai Super WiFi to provide seamless internet access for local residents and tourists.
The project to provide WiFi services for the main cities of Quang Ninh province is divided into different phases. Phase one of the project is already in service in the critical areas of Ha Long city, such as major tourist areas and areas along highway 18A. The carrier has installed multiple sites throughout the city using Altai's A8 Super WiFi Base Stations and A2 WiFi Access Points to provide wireless broadband coverage.
"The number of subscribers has reached over 10,000 since the service launched in late April. Local residents and visitors are able to access WiFi throughout the city using their iPhones, smartphones and tablets," said Chi-hung Lin, President & CEO of Altai Technologies. "Access to wireless internet throughout the city will greatly improve the experience of tourists and even locals due to the ability to stay connected as they travel."
The deployment of this city-wide WiFi network in Ha Long is part of a wireless internet installation project in Quang Ninh, and it is expected to cover all townships and cities in the province by 2015.
