Press release date: October 1, 2007

October 2007, Blacksburg, VA - The ESS Technologies, Inc., Model V 30 Vertical Robotic Case Packer incorporates the latest servo drive technology to create a high speed vertical case packing system. The V 30 is capable of handling jars, bottles (plastic or glass), tubes, bags, and/or cartons. Designed around a Fanuc M-16iC Robot, the V 30 Case Packer includes all the necessary software to address most case packing applications. ESS engineers design custom end-of-arm-tooling to meet the customer's requirements. Tooling changeover times are very fast (<60 seconds).

The M-16iC robot handles payloads of up to 20kg (44lbs.) with a repeatability of ±0.5mm at full speed. The six-axis robot design allows the case packer to handle applications that would be impossible with standard pick and place units. An easy-to-use teach pendant with Allen-Bradley operator interface greatly simplifies setup and operator training. PLC touch screen controls enable the operator to monitor speeds, reset faults, and maintain operational logs.

The V 30 Vertical Robotic Case Packer receives product at a rate of up to 400 per minute, forms a case picked from the case magazine, inserts the product, and seals the case with either self-adhesive tape or hot-melt glue. The case magazine is ergonomically located to facilitate ease of loading and is mechanically driven to maintain continuous feed to the case forming device. The Model V 30P case packer incorporates an integrated palletizing feature, while the Model V 30M excludes the case magazine and is ideal for packing preformed cases or trays. Product diverters on the case packer infeed are also servo-driven, assuring reliable product feeding.

As an authorized FANUC Robotics system integrator, ESS Technologies, Inc. has the expertise needed to integrate the V 30 into existing and new packaging systems to meet any application. Superior design and turnkey systems integration from ESS Technologies, Inc. make the V 30 Vertical Robotic Case Packer the ideal solution for case packing applications.
