Reliable, scalable platform to support WiMAX network in Argentina

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - As mobile traffic increases and user demand hits an all-time high, service providers across the globe need reliable networks that offer flexibility to handle continual growth. They need advanced network intelligence that will enable differentiated and personalized services for subscribers.

That's why VeloCom, a mobile service provider in Buenos Aires, selected the Tellabs SmartCore® 9100 series to support its WiMAX network. VeloCom chose Tellabs to help provide broadband wireless connectivity to its subscribers, with reliable service and a scalable platform that enables growth over time. WxBR, a local partner specialized in advanced wireless broadband solutions, helped with network deployment. WXBR joined Tellabs partnership program through the Wichorus acquisition.

"The increasing number of mobile Internet users in Argentina demands a reliable network that offers the best possible experience," said Marcelo DeCarli, CEO at VeloCom. "As our customers continue to use more mobile services, the Tellabs SmartCore 9100 series will provide the intelligence, scalability and reliable service we need to keep our government and residential subscribers in touch with the information that affects their daily lives."

The Tellabs SmartCore 9100 series, a purpose-built mobile packet core platform for 3G, LTE and WiMax, reduces capital and operating expenses, simplifies network management and offers superior visibility into networks. The platform provides advanced analytics and monetization tools to help maximize investment, and flexible, open network architecture to support future growth. Tellabs is also providing network design and integration services to help VeloCom prepare for its network launch. The Tellabs SmartCore 9100 platform is helping VeloCom successfully launch a first-of-its-kind network in Buenos Aires, compliant with the government requirements for wireless connectivity.

"We're excited to help VeloCom connect users to the mobile Internet," said Alberto Barriento, vice president of LAC sales at Tellabs. "The Tellabs SmartCore 9100 series will provide the flexibility and intelligence to advance the mobile Internet experience."
