Vector Link Combines Teradyne® In-Circuit Tester with Boundary Scan Software Platform SYSTEM CASCON(TM)

Jena; Nuremberg - at the trade fair SMT/Hybrid/Packaging GOEPEL electronic, worldwide leading vendor of JTAG/Boundary Scan solutions compliant with IEEE1149.x announces the launch of specific link software for the insertion of test vectors in Teradyne's® In-Circuit-Testers.

The vector link was developed in cooperation with ATI in the context of the GATE(TM) program, and supports the transfer of hybrid Boundary Scan test sets to the parallel pin electronics with simultaneous pin level diagnostics.

"A direct transfer of test vectors that were successfully verified for the prototype stage to the stage of New Product Introduction (NPI) is an important strategic process within production for our users," says Bettina Richter, Marketing Manager at GOEPEL electronic. "The new available vector link for the complete ICT product range of Teradyne® splendidly complements the existing high-performance integration solutions, and helps our mutual customers to react more effectively to the individually required performance of the production test. At the same time, we are delighted that the new cooperation with the experts of ATI already produces such great results."

"With the conjointly developed solution, the A.T.i Software GmbH is now able to offer its customers an even better test coverage," says Herbert Reitmeier, CEO of the ATi Software GmbH. "The integration of Boundary Scan tests, provided by the research department, into the ICT test adaptation is the ideal extension of the board test with optimum cost-benefit-ratio. We welcome enquiries for further information and presentations of the demo interface. With the latter, the users can experience vector-link running on their test system. According to our motto "Quality right from the start" A.T.i again demonstrates its innovative power."

The vector link works as a bidirectional software bridge between the Teradyne ICT and the JTAG/Boundary Scan software SYSTEM CASCON(TM), with all platforms being supported. The transfer of the vectors is carried out by directly generating the true ICT format. Both the serial TAP vectors and the parallel I/O vectors are implemented on the pin electronics. Different hardware configurations of the target tester are easily handled by the user via software. Furthermore, the vector link allows the return transfer of response vectors in direction of the Boundary Scan software, hence an on-line fault diagnosis can be accomplished on the pin level.

Based on this, vectors that were generated and verified with SYSTEM CASCON(TM) can be implemented on a Teradyne ICT for the Infrastructure Test, Interconnection Test, Cluster Test, or Memory Access Test. This also includes transfers of IEEE1149.6 compatible vectors for the test of AC-coupled networks.

Due to the HYSCAN(TM) technique, integrated in SYSTEM CASCON(TM), for all these tests it is possible to actuate ICT probe accesses as virtual Boundary Scan pins synchronously to true scan cells, hence the whole test coverage achievable with ICT can be exhausted.

The new vector link is compatible to SYSTEM CASCON(TM) from version 4.4.1, and is distributed exclusively by GOEPEL electronic worldwide. For OEM, ODM and EMS customers the software is free of charge. Support with the generation and the transfer of projects is available from ATI and further authorised test houses.
