Press release date: June 17, 2014

WATERTOWN, MASSACHUSETTS, USA - United Electric Controls' electromechanical switches are certified worldwide to meet the safety, alarm, and shutdown requirements of the oil & gas, petrochemical, and refining industries.

The rugged, vibration resistant, 316 Stainless Steel 12 Series Switch meets the demanding requirements of critical hazardous area applications worldwide – as evidenced by its UL, cUL, ATEX, and pending IECEx compliance for Class I, Div. 1, Zone 1 areas.

The 12 Series is marked "dual seal" and complies with ANSI/ISA 12.27.01, regarding secondary seal requirements for sealing between electrical systems and flammable or combustible process fluids. Having the 12 Series certified "dual seal" and designing it as an integral safety measure, eliminates the cost and labor of connecting an external secondary seal between the process and electrical system for safety.

All metal wetted parts comply with NACE MR-0175, and the 316 stainless steel enclosure is certified to IP66 rating for long-term performance in the harshest environments.

At the heart of the 12 Series is a Belleville spring assembly - a small, conical washer - that snaps over when pressure is applied and snaps back upon pressure release. The fast, positive action provides set point stability, vibration resistance, and excellent repeatability and performance life.

Typical industries using 12 Series pressure, differential pressure, and temperature switches are oil & gas, and chemical & petro-chemical. Applications include safety control panels, line heaters, top drives, fire suppression, and rotating equipment.

The versatile electromechanical 120 Series Division 1/Zone 1 Pressure & Temperature Switch performs critical safety, alarm and shutdown functions in oil & gas, petrochemical, and refining industries.

Worldwide certifications include North America (cULus), Europe (ATEX, CE, IECEx), Russia (GOST), and more.

The 120 Series serves as its own junction box, allowing electrical termination via a terminal block inside the explosion proof enclosure. Various process connections and wetted materials, including NACE MR-0175 compliant sensors, meet most application requirements.

Additional features include:

Choice of one or two SPDT, optional DPDT output
Dual electrical conduit openings
Welded diaphragm or bellows sensor
Ultra-low pressure ranges
