Unique Rollers Create Pleated Filter Media

Specially designed and grooved heating rollers work in semi-nip configurations to create precision pleating webs for use in filter media.

Neenah, Wis. – Web material is quickly formed into fan-folded filter media with pleating rollers from Webex.  These uniquely machined, heated rolls are used in a nip-like configuration to achieve a precise pleating action as the web is gently squeezed between the roll grooves. The grooves (valleys) and lands (peaks) are specifically engineered and machined with slightly rounded profiles to pleat the web without shearing. One or both rolls are driven to pull the web into the grooves. Each roll's precision heat transfer capability helps "iron" in the pleats on previously damp webs. Roll diameter, length, and finish along with pleating depths are specified to the customer's need.
