Press release date: May 3, 2007

Akron, Ohio...Union Process, a manufacturer of grinding and dispersing equipment as well as related services for a broad range of industrial applications, has designed and built two Q-50 Circulation Attritor Grinding Mills for a long-standing customer in the food service industry.

Although the customer has purchased circulation Attritors from Union Process in the past, these twin Q-50 Attritors were built with a special extended frame that did not require the usual platform that the frame typically rests upon. The special design now also allows for more convenient horizontal reducer removal rather than vertical lifting.

The two mills were custom-painted in food-grade white. Each mill is powered by a 50 HP, single-speed, T.E.F.C. high-efficiency motor with a 450% high starting torque.

The Q-50 Attritor has a gross tank volume of 56 gallons and a media volume of approximately 50 gallons.

Union Process Circulation ("Q") Attritors are an ideal choice for difficult to grind and disperse materials where a very narrow particle size distribution and good temperature control is required. Large quantities of material (approximately 500 gallons in this case) can be ground using a relatively small amount of grinding media. Efficient temperature control is possible since the slurry spends most of its time in the holding tank and only 20-30 seconds per pass in the grinding chamber.

For more information on Union Process Attritors, other grinding equipment, grinding media, lab services, refurbishing or reconditioning of Attritors, and custom toll processing, contact Union Process or visit www.unionprocess.com.

Union Process is the inventor and developer of Attritor technology and manufactures wet and dry grinding mills as well as small media mills.
