Energy Conservation, Predictive Maintenance and Integration of Technologies Main Focus

UE Systems will host its fifth annual Ultrasound World conference, scheduled from Sunday, January 18th through Wednesday, January 21st, 2009 at the Clearwater Hilton Resort in Clearwater Beach, Florida.

Ultrasound World offers a series of technical presentations and informative case studies presented only by experienced ultrasound technology users. Direct from industry peers, the conference agenda delivers essential inspection techniques and insight into profitability and savings opportunities for the benefit of maintenance and plant operations professionals. Each presentation will discuss an aspect of predictive maintenance and energy conservation tied to case histories.

UE Systems recently announced a few of its featured guest speakers. These industry experts and plant maintenance professionals include: William Triplett, Project Engineer for Northwest Airlines, Joseph D. Gierlach, Jr., Vice President of Technical Training and Support for the TEGG Corporation, Daniel Blackford, Program Manager and Lead Analyst for Allied Reliability, Inc., and Paul Wright, Level II Thermographer for Snell Inspections.

Each featured guest will provide insight into their experience with ultrasound and other inspection technologies in the form of case histories that have led to impact savings and company/client profitability. Examples of their presentations include:

Inspection Aircraft Pneumatic Leakage:
William Triplett will be discussing how pneumatics is utilized in many areas of commercial aircraft ranging from engines to air-conditioning to heating. Leaks can create inefficiencies that waste fuel and may also pose safety issues. It is therefore essential to identify leaks and repair them. This presentation will explain how ultrasound is used to locate leaks in various aircraft components.

"Something For Nothing" Hits Pay Dirt:
Joseph Gierlach, Jr. will review the term "the best things in life are free" and what that means to the predictive maintenance industry. This statement can be very hard to accept in today's competitive world and it can be argued there is nothing left in life that is free. This presentation covers a recent case study in which a simple service led to the discovery of a major deficiency that surely would have resulted in a failure in a large food processing facility. The results are unmistakable that going the extra mile and giving "something for nothing" can and does pay dividends.

Examining Route-Based Leak Inspections of Air Operated RKL Bladder Valves:
Danny Blackford will examine route based leak inspections of air operated RKL bladder valves and the benefits of those inspections. He will define an RKL valve and its proper function as used in controlling the production process and in the flows of production materials. He will also look at the process by which the proper amount of DB/PSI allowable leakage was determined. A case study will accompany this presentation.

Reliability Through Airborne Ultrasound Inspection:
Paul Wright will discuss how manufacturing facilities are shifting focus in a shrinking economy to find ways to become more reliable and increase production. Instituting modern Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) programs into these facilities has gone a long way towards keeping many companies viable in a highly competitive marketplace. A key component of such programs is the use of Airborne Ultrasonic testing.

This year's event will be the most informative to date realizing the significant importance of energy efficiency and increased profitability across all applications and industries. Gary Mohr, Vice President of Sales & Operations for UE Systems stated, "No matter what your level of experience within plant operations, I am confident that attendees will walk away with essential information on how to improve downtime, increase asset availability and reduce costly waste while enhancing production and profitability."
