UTStarcom CEO Hong Lu to Speak on IP Networking at ITU World Forum 2006 in Hong Kong


ALAMEDA, Calif., Nov 21, 2006-- UTStarcom, Inc. (Nasdaq: UTSI), a global leader in IP-based, end-to-end networking solutions and services, will speak on the evolution of IP networking at the ITU World Forum 2006 in Hong Kong. The show is taking place from December 4-8, 2006 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.

Hong Liang Lu has served as the president and chief executive officer at UTStarcom, Inc., a leading provider of IP-based networking and telecommunications equipment solutions, since 1995, when the Taiwanese-born businessman orchestrated the merger of Unitech Telecom Inc., a digital and wireless transmission systems manufacturer he founded in 1991, with Starcom Network Systems Inc., a developer of intelligent network systems.

Prior to founding Unitech Telecom Inc., Lu started Unison World, Inc., a software development company, and played an integral role in the company's merger with Kyocera International, Inc. to form Kyocera Unison, where he continued to serve in executive leadership roles until 1991. Lu holds a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, and English.
