ULIS Launches Its Family Of Amorphous Silicon Infrared Detectors with the Smallest Pixel in the World

Chicago, October 19, 2006

Today, the French company ULIS (Sofradir group), which designs, develops, manufactures and sells uncooled infrared detectors, launches its range of 25-micron pixel pitch detectors: the UL 02 15 2, the UL 04 17 1, and the UL 03 19 1. ULIS is the only company to propose such a wide range of 25-micron products.

The compact UL 02 15 2 can be used in thermography and industrial applications and has a 160 x 120 pixel array format, thermal time constant less than 7 ms, CMOS read out circuit, 70% area fill factor, and an 8 to 14-micron spectral response. Its operating temperature range varies from -40°C to +60°C (-40°F to +140°F). Typical operability is greater than 99.9% with a high uniform response (3 mV/K, °/m = 1.3%). It has an easy-to-use electrical interface that includes analog and digital video outputs. It weighs less than 5 g (.18 oz.) and its overall dimensions are 16.6 x 16.5 x 4.2 mm (.65 x .64 x .17 in.). It is fully dedicated to low-cost thermography equipment applications.

The UL 04 17 1 is synonymous with high definition. Its 640 x 480 pixel array format with windowing capability offers identical characteristics to the previous model, yet it possesses considerably higher performances. The operating temperature range with TEC and focal plane at 30°C (86°F) vary from -30° to +60°C (-22° to +140°F), whereas operating temperatures range from -40° to +85°C (-40° to +185° F) is possible for other focal plane temperature. Its signal response is 7 mV/K. Typical operability and standard deviation are identical to the UL 02 15 2. The focal plane temperature is stabilized by an integrated TEC. It has one or two analog outputs and its electrical interface is easy to use. It weighs less than 30 g and its overall dimensions excluding pins are 32 x 23.5 x 7.4 mm (1.25 x .93 x .29 in.). It is aimed at applications such as medical imaging, enhanced driver night vision, security, and thermography.

The last in the family, the UL 03 19 1, offers high performances in a compact package. With a 384 x 288 pixel array format and windowing capability, its performances are identical to the UL 04 17 1. It has analog and digital outputs. It is intended for applications in predictive maintenance, industrial process control, medical imaging, security, and enhanced night vision for driving.
