Windowpane and Flex-Frame air filters added to online capabilities
SAUGET, Ill. - Universal Air Filter has added online 3D CAD capabilities for two of its most popular frame models: the Windowpane and Flex-Frame air filters. Now, designers will be able to configure these filters and visualize them from all angles before downloading models into their final designs.
"The success of our online 3D CAD modeling service has allowed us to expand the service to include a couple of our latest, most popular filter models," said Mike Miano, engineering and sales manager at UAF. "This addition will be extremely beneficial to designers of these particular filters in regard to speeding up design and production times."
Windowpane air filters are the ideal solution to meet the low-profile and edge-to-edge filter needs of communications electronics applications, and they help designers meet the strict requirements of the Telcordia NEBS standards. The Windowpane design offers a sturdy air filter even when the combined thickness of filter media and frame is as thin as one-quarter inch for applications with limited space.
UAF's Flex-Frame air filters are designed for electronics equipment that cannot accept a rigid air filter frame because of internal chassis obstructions or the necessity to follow a curved track. These frames use flexible, flame retardant, polypropylene plastic frames that meet the stringent filtration and UL 94 flammability requirements of Telcordia NEBS, CE and UL.
Design engineers can access the 3D models through UAF's Web site, www.uaf.com, or SolidWorks' 3D ContentCentral Web site at www.3dcontentcentral.net. Within minutes of answering a few specification questions, a customized SolidWorks 3D air filter will be generated. 2D drawings also are available for download to support procurement and documentation. This enhanced modeling offers online downloads to models previously available only by request.
UAF provides customized solutions and engineering support during the design phase of medical, power generation, military, computer networking and telecom product development. The air filters meet stringent safety and reliability requirements, including UL 94 flame safety, CE compliance and UL 900 Class 2 rated air filter assembly. Filters also can be configured to provide EMI shielding, a perforated metal frame or a flexible frame. Filter assemblies may contain black, gray or green Quadrafoam filter media or white, non-woven polyester media. Quadrafoam is an open cell polyurethane foam that is cleanable and reusable, while the polyester offers a disposable alternative. Both Quadrafoam and polyester filter models are rated UL 94 HF-1 and offer low pressure drop and high dust arrestance for deep loading and increased dust holding capacity.
A design engineer looking to evaluate a UAF air filter can access UAF's complimentary, round-the-clock prototype service available worldwide via www.uaf.com. The prototype service provides design engineers with assistance in meeting critical design, testing and evaluation deadlines for air filter media. To receive a prototype, the engineer can submit a request on the Internet or via telephone, fax or e-mail. Once the prototype is submitted, it is produced and shipped within five working days.
Universal Air Filter products are RoHS Compliant and meet the following standards and classifications: UL 94 HF-1, ATCA, UL 900 Class 2, CE, Telcordia, NEBS GR-78-CORE and GR-63-CORE, micro TCA and ETSI.
