NORTHRIDGE, CA, March 27: SEI Chemical of Northridge, California announces the purchase of 21st Century Coatings Ltd. of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. According to company sources, the buyout is effective immediately.
The significance of the buyout is that it enables customers in more markets worldwide to access a range of leading-edge coating, additive and specialty cleaning technologies, from a single source. Most notably are the two firms' diverse lines of high-end industrial coatings that utilize fluorinated and unique silicone resins systems that are proven in the fields of anti-corrosion, anti-microbiological, ant-graffiti, anti-stick, marine and high-heat applications. Depending on the product line, company offerings are sold into both consumer and industrial markets.
SEI Chemical is a global leader in the fields of release, antimicrobial, anti-corrosion and industrial coatings and additive technologies. SEI also custom synthesizes and formulates novel resin systems, sealants and building restoration products. 21st Century is a developer of fluorinated based resins used
in their proprietary Polyurea, Polyaspartic, Polyurethane and Epoxy systems. Both firms have a long and proven track record in the industries they serve. Both SEI Chemical and 21st Century Coatings have been in business for over a decade.
According to Ross Sklar, the CEO of SEI Chemical, "The addition of 21st Century Coatings to SEI adds a portfolio of leading-edge coating intellectual property that not only builds out our product offering, but also allows us to present solutions that are technologically far superior than the traditional industrial coating products that have been sold for the last thirty years. By combining the two firms, customers across a variety of industries now have a single resource for their every coating and cleaning need. While there are several players in these industries, the resources of SEI and 21st Century are positioned to exceed customers' needs due to their novel technologies. These include new resin systems that far out perform traditional products, quality technical assistance and quick turnaround, plus specialized product lines that can be found nowhere else."
Purchase price was not disclosed, although the SEI did announce that 21st Century will continue in the immediate future operating under the same name and with its current sales outlets. It is expected that in due course sales personnel from both companies will, after training, be selling a unified product line under the SEI brand.
