Trimble and RS Solutions Join Forces in the Ready Mix Market

System to Provide Real-Time, In-Transit Process Control Management for Concrete Trucks

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 23 -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) announced today that its Trimble Mobile Solutions (TMS) division and RS Solutions have entered into a definitive agreement to integrate and market Trimble's TrimFleet(TM) Ready Mix solution with RS Solutions' Ready Slump(TM) system on new aftermarket and factory installations for concrete trucks throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Together, the integrated system shares job ticket information, vehicle location, status monitoring, driver messaging and ready mix concrete process control throughout the delivery process. The entire system is integrated between the producer's dispatch system and the concrete truck. The combined systems will provide producers with real-time management and control of concrete quality while the truck is in transit.

The announcement was made today at the World of Concrete 2007, one of the world's largest international exhibitions for the construction and construction materials industries. The TMS booth is located in the Las Vegas Convention Center North Hall #N-3147.

The proven Ready Slump system is the first truck-mounted process control system that can accurately measure, adjust and document concrete slump from the time a truck is loaded until it is poured. The patented system closes the loop of slump control during the concrete delivery process by measuring the product slump, comparing it to the customer-specified slump, and automatically making the necessary water adjustments at proper mixing speed to reach that level, giving producers an accurate, reliable system to control product quality, reduce production costs and provide consistency from one truckload to another.

Trimble's TrimFleet Ready Mix solution is an industry leading system for delivering real-time ready mix delivery status, vehicle location information and driver messaging in real-time to the dispatcher. TrimFleet has been integrated with leading dispatch and enterprise software products used by ready mix concrete producers. Trimble's system automates the process of monitoring the key stages of the delivery cycle of ready mix vehicles, increasing fleet productivity, reporting and safety.

"The integrated solution will take the Ready Slump status system to a new level to address the industry-wide problem of improper concrete mixing and inaccurate concrete slumps that can lead to higher mix costs, rejected loads, inconsistency and inferior product quality claims. The integration of our ReadySlump technology with Trimble's Autostatus system will go a long way to ensure consistent product quality and improve mix performance, which can give producers a strong competitive advantage and improve bottom-line results," said Andy Morrison, vice president and general manager of the Ohio-based RS Solutions.

"We are very excited to be working with RS Solutions," said Mike Kapolka, general manager of Ready Mix for Trimble Mobile Solutions. "By integrating the systems, customer-specified slump, the exact slump level reading at time of delivery, levels of water or superplasticizer added to the product during the delivery process, and the amount of concrete delivered is captured in real time. The combined system extends the management and control of the ready mix product quality beyond the batch process to the vehicle, with information that is available, manageable and configurable on a real-time basis while the vehicle is in transit."
