Tricorn Systems Announce Interface to Kardex

Tricorn System Ltd. have developed an automatic interface from their Production Control system – TRICORN:Production - to a Kardex Remstar Shuttle XP installed at Hayes-based sub-contractor, Wellington Engineering Ltd.
Wellington installed the Kardex automatic storage and retrieval system earlier this year and wanted to implement a seamless method of ensuring that parts required for assemblies were readily available to pick from the Kardex shuttle. Wellington have been a user of TRICORN:Production for many years.
Simon Hart, Materials and Planning Engineer at Wellington said, "The interface allows the production office to source parts to a works order, knowing that the information will be seen on the Kardex PC. The operator can then pull the parts from stock within seconds, pack and it's ready for its delivery paper work to be printed. Linking TRICORN:Production with the Kardex is part of the overall systems view for the production control office. It helps streamline that part of the process to run as efficiently as possible."
Tony Dunn, Development Director at Tricorn and developer of the interface commented, "All movements are passed to Kardex so they can extract the parts and present them to the user. The interface can run fully-automated sending the movements automatically or in manual mode where the user can select what to send to the Kardex Shuttle. The interface process is backed up with a comprehensive set of reports so the user can monitor movements".
