Candidates earn the Certified Packaging Professional distinction by achieving required industry experience and by demonstrating their packaging expertise through a complex testing program. Approximately 1,500 packaging consultants in the United States have completed the lengthy qualifying process since the distinction was introduced in 1972, according to the Institute of Packaging Professionals, the international trade organization that created, awards and oversees the distinction.
