New event developed to address the emergence of the mobile internet ecosystem and focused on helping participants develop profitable business models.
Westborough, Mass., January 24, 2007 - Trendsmedia, the Events and Publishing Division of Yankee Group, today announced the launch of Mobile Internet World Conference & Exposition. The 3-day conference and exposition will be held November 13-15, 2007, at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Mass. The event web site is http://www.mobilenetx.com
In the past 15 years, the internet has fundamentally changed the way we work, play and communicate. Evolving wireless and mobile broadband technologies are now enabling the next major wave-the Mobile Internet. The next-generation Mobile Internet will enable consumers and businesses to connect and access new types of applications and new forms of information wherever and whenever they want. The development of this new Mobile Internet marketplace has just begun.
"We are extremely pleased to announce today the launch of Mobile Internet World Conference & Expo," said Eliot Weinman, President of Trendsmedia and conference co-chair. "During the next decade, the expansion of the Mobile Internet will likely represent the single largest definable growth marketplace in the telecommunications industry. Trendsmedia and Yankee Group have developed this event to assemble the entire ecosystem of emerging Mobile Internet companies. They will come together to examine the dynamics, trends, and ultimately, how to accelerate the development of profitable business models."
The Mobile Internet sits at the intersection of two complementary worlds:
o The internet, which provides a highly standardized environment for a seemingly infinite array of applications, and
o Mobility, which delivers personalized services to a third of the world's population.
As a result, a major metamorphosis is under way, creating an entirely new ecosystem of technologies, channels, services, applications, software, media and communication paradigms that together represent the Mobile Internet.
Mobile Internet World will answer these fundamental questions:
o What is the Mobile Internet? o How, when and where will the Mobile Internet come about? o What makes up the evolving Mobile Internet ecosystem and how will players collaborate and build sustainable business models? o What impact will the Mobile Internet have on enterprises and consumers?
Mobile Internet World will feature three days of seminars, keynotes and conference sessions. The pre-conference day, November 13, 2007, will feature the Mobile Internet Executive Summit, led by Yankee Group.
The conference program will run November 14-15, 2007, and includes industry visionary keynotes. The conference program comprises four main tracks:
o Mobile Internet Business Models o Mobile Broadband & Technology o Mobilizing the Consumer o Mobilizing the Enterprise
"Previous attempts to commercialize the Mobile Internet have languished in part because of inadequate technology, but more significantly as a consequence of business models that were overly restrictive in the variety of services offered to consumers and enterprises," said Berge Ayvazian, chief strategy officer of Yankee Group and conference co-chair. "The proliferation of the Mobile Internet depends on the successful evolution of business models, industry collaboration and emerging network and device technologies that will enable consumers and businesses to capitalize on value created by mobile content and applications. Yankee Group is pleased to participate in this open industry forum and help industry participants navigate the new exciting world of the Mobile Internet."
