Regulatory Compliance for the Flammability of Upholstered Furniture, Mattresses and Bedding Sold in the U.S. Subject of New ASTM Training Course



W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., November 16, 2009-"Regulatory Compliance for the Flammability of Upholstered Furniture, Mattresses and Bedding Sold in the United States" is a two-day ASTM technical and professional training course to be held twice during the first half of 2010.

This course will provide students with a basic understanding of mandatory and voluntary flammability performance and quality control test standards for upholstered furniture, mattresses and mattress/box spring sets, and bedding (bed clothing) offered for sale in the United States. Both open flame and smoldering tests will be covered. Students will learn how to properly conduct tests, assess test results to determine if products are in compliance, learn what products put their companies at risk and how to avoid costly recalls and penalties.

The cost for the course is $895 USD and includes copies of various federal, state and voluntary flammability test standards and information about ASTM and Committees D13 on Textiles and E05 on Fire Standards. Two classes are scheduled for the first half of 2010: May 4-5 in Grand Rapids, Mich., and June 24-25 in West Conshohocken, Pa. (ASTM headquarters).
