Versatile Five-Axis System Offers Unequaled Access Ideal for Pediatric Patients

TUSTIN, CA- August 27, 2007 - Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc., a leader in diagnostic and medical imaging systems, announced today the installation of two Infinix CF-i/BP vascular X-ray systems at the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Sibley Heart Center, located at the Egleston hospital campus. The Infinix CF-i/BP vascular lab's five-axis bi-plane system allows for superior patient access, an extremely important feature in pediatrics.

"We selected this X-ray system because of the versatility of the five-axis bi-plane system, flat panel detector movement and C-arm flexibility," stated Robert Vincent, MD, pediatric cardiologist and head of the cardiac catheterization department, Children's Sibley Heart Center.

"In addition to offering greater patient access, the Infinix CF-i/BP also helps improve patient care by reducing the amount of contrast media needed in pediatric patients," explained Robert Micer, director, X-Ray Vascular Business Unit, Toshiba. "Physicians are able to image using two planes simultaneously, reducing the amount of contrast given to infant patients compared to when using a single plane system."

The Infinix CF-i/BP floor based rotation mechanism of the C-arm allows 180 degree access around the head end of the table. The freely moving components, ergonomically friendly design and five-axis positioner enable physicians to obtain optimal angles for cardiac diagnosis and interventional procedures without re-positioning the patient.
