FMA's 2009 Toll Processing Conference Adds Panel Discussion on Economy

Rockford, Ill. January 14, 2009 - Due to the economic crisis and its impact on the metals industry, the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, Intl. (FMA) and Outside Processors Council (OPC) have updated their 2009 Toll Processing Conference to include a panel of economic experts who will share their industry predictions for 2009. The conference takes place March 4-6 at Disney's Contemporary Resort at Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

FMA's global economist Dr. Chris Kuehl, steel industry analyst and veteran of U.S. Steel Corp. Glenn Kidd, and equity research analyst Michelle Applebaum will participate in a two-hour interactive discussion focused on global and domestic economic issues.

"Given the current economic climate, we feel it's vital to address how industry economic experts view the impact on the steel industry," said Cindy Day, FMA Toll Processing ®09 conference organizer and OPC Manager. "Attendees will hear first-hand these experts' perspectives and learn what's in store for metals producers and processors in the coming year."

The theme of the 13th annual world-class conference is The Power of "E". Sessions will focus on the issues of top priority to industry executives including employees, economics, education, energy, environment, equipment, and more. Engaging presentations geared toward the strategic needs of company owners and managers will address labor market concerns, economic perspectives, and advocacy initiatives. Speakers will cover updates on appliance markets, new technologies, and recent developments impacting the metals industry.

Keynote speaker Richard Judy, author of Workforce 2020, will explore the challenges of recruiting, educating, and retaining workers in today's changing manufacturing environment. Other featured speakers include Chris McCarthy (Severstal), Wayne Morris (Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers), Robert Weidner (MSCI), and Jeff Sherman (Affiliated Power Purchasers Int'l).
