DENVER -- The International Titanium Association (ITA), Denver, CO, will sponsor its "Fundamentals of Titanium" workshops in Rosemont, IL; Charlotte, NC; Atlanta, GA and Houston, Texas in the coming months. "Fundamentals" is a comprehensive education series designed to provide detailed information on the types, uses and properties of titanium alloys.

Jennifer Simpson, executive director of the ITA, said the Association has had the good fortune of having excellent instruction for the Fundamentals course over the past 11 years. "Our instructor, Stanley Seagle, has had a diverse background in the Titanium industry. His early career centered on research in titanium physical metallurgy and alloy development. Several titanium alloys developed by Mr. Seagle are in current use in aerospace and corrosion-resistant applications".

Ms. Simpson said attendees would gain an understanding of applied titanium metallurgy fundamentals. "This workshop is perfect for sales professionals and engineers alike. It provides a fantastic overview of the history of titanium and provides titanium metallurgy concepts in a comfortable, easy to learn environment," she explained. "The ITA is a not-for-profit organization, focusing on our mission to connect the public interested in using titanium metal with our committees, programs and membership. The support of our member organizations gives us the ability to offer this informative course, with such a high level of instruction, at reduced registration rates 40% less than similar related events....shop around and you won't find a workshop of this caliber anywhere that is this affordable."

The workshop sites and dates are: the Hilton Rosemont/Chicago O'Hare, 5550 N. River Rd., on May 22; the Charlotte Marriott City Center, 100 West Trade St., on July 17; the Hilton Atlanta, 255 Courtland St. NE, on Oct. 7; and the Hilton Houston Hobby Airport, 8181 Airport Blvd., on Oct. 24.

In addition to the regional workshops, the ITA offers a "Fundamentals of Titanium Online Course," which is available in English, Spanish, German, Russian and Chinese. "We understand all individuals learn differently," Simpson said. "Some are visual learners and will grasp concepts easier if they have the opportunity to read the text in their native language while watching the demonstrations online. Others may have auditory learning styles and will achieve best by hearing the presentation as opposed to reading. What's fantastic about the online program is participants may choose which learning style is best for them in the language of their preference and they are welcome to watch the segments over and over again". Simpson said participants in the online course will receive a certificate of completion for eight hours of continuing education.

Established in 1984, the ITA (Web site: www.titanium.org) is a non-profit trade association. The ITA's mission is to educate members of the industry, foster the development of new commercial and industrial applications for titanium, and provide a forum for the exchange of ideas within the industry. The ITA furthers its educational mission through annual conferences, workshops and seminars. The association's much anticipated event, TITANIUM 2012, the 28th annual conference and exhibition, will be held Oct. 7-10 at the Hilton Atlanta.
